Jobs Investigations: Artists

During our jobs investigations this term, the Preps mentioned that they would like to learn more about artists. So last Friday, the Preps investigated being artists themselves. Some of the different artists they investigated were jewellers, painters, sculptures, dancers and designers (of handbags) to name a few. They focused on their tools, tasks and uniform.

Reminder: Contacting teachers

Dear parents & caregivers,

Recently, we have had a number of request and questions just before or after the bell in the mornings. During this time we are busy attending to the students needs and settling them into the classroom.

If you have a question or request, could you please come and speak to us before 8.55 (we will either be in our office or around the classroom preparing for the day). One or more of the teachers will be able to chat after school if you have a quick question or something small to mention. However, PLEASE do not be surprised if we are racing around and not available to talk at either of these times - this is when we are usually heading off to meetings or planning or supervising students who are waiting for their parents. If you want a longer chat or a meeting, please do not hesitate to contact the front office on 9386 2510, email us to arrange a time to meet, or simply ask us when we will be available. We are always happy to sit down to discuss any concerns, issues or questions you may have, we just might not have the time then and there!

Examples of messages/questions for before or after school:
Letting the teacher know that a student is feeling a little under the weather
Asking for a spare money envelope
Handing in a note to explain absences or alternative pick-up arrangements

Examples of questions/issues to make an appointment to discuss:
Information, concerns or questions about your child's progress at school
Concerns or questions about your child's emotions, behaviour, social skills or friends
Information about your child that is important for us to know, for example, new family arrangements or stresses, medical issues etc

UPDATE: Book Week Breakfast: Monday 31st August

I've had an overwhelming response today from parents and carers of students in Grade Prep and Grade 1 & 2 to help run the Book Week Breakfast on 31st August, there are now enough parents involved to host this breakfast.

If you have missed out this time, there will be plenty more opportunities to get involved throughout the remainder of the year.  This term alone we have a Fathers Day Breakfast and Stall on Friday 4th September and a Footy Day Lunch on the last day of term 18th September and then of course there is the Fete in Term 4.

Please feel free to contact me anytime if you'd like to find out more about the Parents Group and the activities we have planned at MPS.

Thanks
Dee Brown

Job Investigations: Schools

Last week, the Preps focused on schools for their job investigations. They had some special visitors come and talk about their job, including our business manager, IT technician and principal. By the time that Friday came around, the Preps were experts, and were able to role play these jobs. They dressed up as art teachers, classroom teachers, principals, PE teachers, IT technicians and crossing guards to name a few.

Emergency Services: Fire Fighters

The Preps had some special visitors come and talk to them about their job this term.
Can you guess who?

Fire fighters from the Brunswick Station talked to the Preps about being safe around fires and what do to in an emergency.

And then it was time for some fun!
