L is for Lamingtons!

This week, during our language experience activity, the Preps made lamingtons. Students used this experience to create their own procedural text as a group and focused on beginning and end sounds of words, such as L is for lamingtons, M is for mix and R is for roll.

Reminder: Family Museum

Dear Parents and Carers,

This term we have been learning about the topic ‘Me and My Family.’  As a part of this unit of work we are going to be making a class museum about our families.  We are asking that each child bring in an object (photo, ornament, etc… not too big!) to write about and display in our class museum.

We are then opening up the prep room on Friday the 12th of June, at 3.00pm as a ‘Special Visitors’ afternoon.  Students are asked to invite a special friend i.e grandparent, aunty, uncle etc. to come in and walk through our museum.

There will also be a slideshow of photos from the preps experiences of school so far.

Students can start bringing in objects as of tomorrow, we require items by Monday 1st of June at the very latest.  We request that they come in a plastic bag with their name clearly marked on it.  We will store them in a safe place until they are required.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation,

The Prep Team – Miss Jennah, Kellie & Freya

Reminder: Multicultural Dress Up Day

This Friday, Moreland PS will be having a multicultural dress up day. Students will participate in a whole school assembly and are asked to dress up in clothing that is linked to their cultural heritage.

Student are not required to make a donation, however, there will be a Nepalese Earthquake Fundraising Breakfast before school, so please bring some gold coins to help us raise money for those in need.

Donations For Our Garden

Thank you to all of the parents who have donated succulents, vegetable seedlings and soil over the last two weeks. Our little garden is starting to come together and yesterday the preps began planting the succulents.

If you are still able to contribute to our garden, we are in need of more soil (succulent and normal potting mix), mulch and vegetable seedlings.

Thank you for helping us brighten up our courtyard and providing students with such an engaging experience.

Mothers Day Song

Today, the Preps sang their Mothers Day song to parents as part of the Mothers Day morning tea. Below is a video for those who couldn't attend or those who wish to hear the song again.

We hope that you all have a great day on Sunday and enjoy being spoilt by the Preps.

B is for bubbles!

In phonics, the students have been learning about the letter B and as part of our language experience program, we made bubbles. Students brainstormed words to describe the bubbles and their experience, and used these for their writing.

Spare Pants & Underwear

Dear parents & caregivers,

Unfortunately, we have ran out of spare pants and underwear for the Preps.

We have had many people return these items, however some of them have not come back.

We urgently need any spare items of clothing to be returned, otherwise we will not be able to provide them to the students.

Thank you,

The Prep Team
