Week 10 & 11

As the year draws to a close, the Preps will begin to bring items home from school.

This week, the Preps will be taking home their maths books and next week their literacy books. Other items such as artwork will begin coming home as well, so please check your child's tub regularly to avoid items building up.

All reader and library bags will be collected next week. They will be sent up to the Grade 1 & 2 room, ready for the new year. Please ensure that your child still participates in reading books over the holidays.

If your child still has library books at home, can they please be brought back to school as soon as possible. All book are now overdue

Thank you for your assistance,

The Prep Team

Swimming Volunteers

Dear Parents,

We are looking for volunteers to help out with the walks to and from swimming over the next two weeks.  We will put up a roster on the pin board just in side the classroom.  If you could please fill it out it would be greatly appreciated. We will require 2-3 parents for each walk.  Parents are required to have a current working with children check and a copy must be left at the office, as well as being shown to staff on the day.  The students will be swimming in two groups.

Group 1 will be leaving school at 12.20pm and returning by 1.40pm.
Group 2 will be leaving school at 1.00pm and returning by 2.20pm

Parents are required for walking only (assistance with changing in the change rooms is not required). As the swimming venue is very hot, I recommend parents have a water bottle. Siblings are not able to come on the walk so please make alternative arrangements.

Kind Regards,

The Prep Team

Tahu Isi

Last term, some of the prep parents came in and taught the preps how to cook a traditional Indonesian dish called Tahu Isi.

Tahu Isi is a popular snack food in Indonesia, and is battered and deep fried tofu puffs that are stuffed with vegetables.

The Preps LOVED eating Tahu Isi, with most wanting seconds (including their teachers!).

Thank you to the parents who helped us make this dish. The Preps were involved in an authentic experience that linked to Indonesian studies.

Here is a similiar recipe, just incase you would like to make Tahu Isi at home!

Questions About The Past

Dear Parents/Carers,

These holidays the Preps have a little project.

As part of the history unit this year, students need to develop a narrative about the past.
The Preps have been busy thinking about questions they could ask family members or a special person in their life about what it used to be like when they were children.

Students will be coming home with a paper bag with some questions enclosed.  If you could find some time for them to ask these questions to a ‘special person’ and bring the answers back to school at the beginning of Term 4, where they will then get a chance to present the information they have learnt.  This is not a writing activity for the students, so if you can write the responses down for them so they can remember the responses that would be greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions regarding this activity, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the prep teachers.

Thanks in advance,

Miss Jennah, Freya and Kellie

Book Week

Last Monday, MPS celebrated book week. The students dressed up as their favourite characters from books, such as Alice in Wonderland, Wally and Peter Pan (to name a few). The Preps then worked with the Grade 5/6's, creating pieces of art that focused on some of the nominated picture books.
